HAYLEY JENKINS, MSHP
Hayley Jenkins is a trained Materials Conservator and Historic Preservation Consultant living in Charleston, South Carolina. With nearly 20 years of academic and professional experience, Hayley meets the Secretary of the Interior’s Historic Professional Qualification Standards for the positions of Historian and Architectural Historian.
Originally from Annapolis, Maryland, Hayley has lived and worked across the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, and Southeast, moving from Chicago to New Orleans in 2016 before relocating to Charleston. While in Chicago, Hayley worked as a conservator for Restoric, a historic restoration and consulting firm, where she gained experience restoring historic wood, metal, and stained-glass windows. She later built upon that experience in New Orleans at Staub Window Restorations, where she served as a Project Manager and Restoration Specialist, and at Cypress Building Conservation.
Hayley has also worked with nonprofits and historic preservation agencies at the local and state levels, preserving the built environment through hands-on restoration, planning, research, and historic site interpretation. These organizations include Historic Charleston Foundation, Adirondack Architectural Heritage, the City of Chicago’s Historic Preservation Division, and the Maryland Commission on Artistic Property.
From 2011–2013, Hayley worked as a Research Associate for the State of Maryland, where she provided primary research support for the ongoing restoration of the Old Senate Chamber in the Maryland State House to its original eighteenth-century appearance.
Hayley holds a B.A. in Historic Preservation and Community Planning from the College of Charleston and an M.S. in Historic Preservation and Conservation from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
